SHOWCASES THE ADVANCES THAT FACULTY AT ENGINEERING UC ARE ACHIEVING THROUGH APPLIED DISCIPLINARY AND INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH

“Research @ Engineering UC” is a publication that showcases the advances that faculty at Engineering UC are achieving as a result of applied disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Engineering UC has the vast goal of helping Chile’s economy find a sustainable competitive advantage that will stop dependency on natural resources, and such advantages may be partially concealed in the cases presented in this book. The initiative began as Dean de la Llera received as present from the recently appointed Dean of Engineering at Columbia University a book that describes a complete compilation of the research undertaken by Columbia’s engineering faculty. Inspired by this publication, “Research @ Engineering UC” serves as an invitation to all those who are carrying out research somewhere in the world. Dean de la Llera states in the first pages: “Over the last four years, Engineering UC has been going through an aggressive development plan (Engineering 2030) in terms of academic research, infrastructure, as well as in the number of tenure track faculty positions that will soon exceed 150. This book is about them, a window to their research and to their dreams”.
