Long-term economy [P4.S3.P2]
AIM: To create the necessary conditions to produce larger and sustainable profits to be incorporated to Ingeniería UC’s budget. This quest for profits were based on continued growth of technology transfer, product evaluation and quality engineering consulting activities in DICTUC and secondly in obtaining support and funding from industry and the community related Ingeniería UC.
OBJECTIVES:
- Update of DICTUC’s Strategic Plan, including incentives to promote transference activity from full time professors through contract research with private/public institutions; startup of business units within DICTUC and creation of new spin offs
- Launching of a “Commercialization Office” that, through putting into action part of the plan built in specific objective #1, will be aimed to boost transference activities from professors, not only to enhance impact on environment but also to increase incomes and profits from these activities
- Strengthening of product quality assessment, certification and consulting activities at DICTUC, organizing current and new laboratories in businesses areas oriented to attend different economic sectors, aiming to multiply their operational profits in coming years
- Construction of a roadmap in order to settle conditions to startup and develop spin offs from DICTUC´s business units, aiming to facilitate the creation of new spin offs. The final goal is to increase the number of DICTUC’s spin offs as a way not only to boost transference activity but also to enhance DICTUC´s financial value through investments in derivative companies
- To establish an Alumni Community, including graduate and undergraduate students, by fostering the participation in the life of the community (events and activities), and establishing face-to-face and online interactions. To promote, facilitate and manage relations between the School of Engineering UC and companies / industries, to work in solving problems, by giving benefit to both parties and by contributing to the development of Chile
- To design and follow up the Fundraising Plan by working with Alumni, Industries and Students and to strengthen the development of Ingeniería UC
- Support and share all the experience in matters of fund raising activities with UTFSM
