Pillar 1, Stage 3: Internationalization through undergraduate experience [P1.S3]

AIM: Increase significantly the quantity and quality of the international scholar exchange programs toward institutions with strong cultures of innovation and entrepreneurship. Also develop a local capacity (national and international) to connect students with interesting industrial opportunities in the host country. Partially support student exchange with scholarships based on merit and impact.
This project proposes to scale up internationally the current Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) that serves as a strong window for our undergraduate talent and help students develop the necessary skills and competences. If well done, this international presence of students from the Consortium will increase its visibility and recognition. To prepare students to participate in international experiences and to receive in Chile more international students, both institutions will move toward an English curriculum.
Another goal for the Consortium is to enable an easy exchange of undergraduate and graduate students between UTFSM and UC, which implies the development of a system of transferrable credits (SCT), and an attractive menu of other curricular opportunities.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
- Undergraduate International Mobility: Global Engineering Training
- Develop an integrated undergraduate research opportunities (I-UROP) for the Consortium
- Move towards a curriculum in English
- Create a program for undergraduate mobility UC-UTFSM (UC/UTFSM)
