Industry Gateway [P3.S3]

AIM: To create an Interaction Model within the environment based on the strengthening of the existing ties with public and private business and national and international Higher Education Institutions. Through history, the University has established collaborative relationships with a variety of entities; this Model will allow the search of new favorable and useful ideas and opportunities, and perhaps with innovation requirements in the whole environment. The positive impact in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, continuing education and the linked companies will be sought.
University regular activity refers to the interaction between students and professors about the related specialties issues; however, the initial and ultimate aim is that these professional engineers do work in companies, in public and private organisms, in society. Society as synonymous of reality, a reality that is not systematically present within engineers. It may be argued that it is active in examples, theses, and internships; nevertheless, the focus of this UTFSM-Pillar is to implement a sustainable model that bring about the reality, the specific contingency, country issues and the engineer particular role in the country’s future.
This Relation Model with the reality has interfaces and processes. The main interface is the “Interaction Model within the environment in the UTFSM”, it requires the display of the value offering for the incumbents, the Products and its valuation, and also a temporary sustainability system of this Model. The Processes are a set of activities developed in different levels with different participants which allow the reality to be present in a systematic way in engineering teaching: 1) Strengthening of the UTFSM experience, its Alumni and the Enterprise; 2) Web-Labs; 3) Industry-Labs.
