Academic training program for entrepreneurship & innovation skills and methodologies [P5.S5]

AIM: To develop a comprehensive program dedicated to expose and train scholars in innovation and entrepreneurship including its formal training in methodology and through practical exposure (international internships, visits to international ecosystems, and other activities intended to promote a new culture among scholars). The project includes scholar training in relevant topics and methodologies of innovation and entrepreneurship, such as Lean Canvas, TRIZ, go to market, Design Thinking, and others.
The program includes activities such as immersion in dynamic modules taught by world class experts; highly specialized internships in top-level international centers that apply the methodologies and tools learned for R&D+i. In addition to the training activities, and to promote cultural change, we are planning scientific visits and internships of at least 50% of UTFSM scholars to active ecosystems in Silicon Valley, Israel, and world-class innovation centers in Europe and Asia.
This will be done in partnership with UC through the Consortium and will include world class and institutions in the EU, US, and Latin America. Furthermore, the program also considers direct funding incentives to support the implementation of methodologies and tools learned during the training program through the Open Innovation Hubs, which are key to this “Engineering 2030” Project. The results of these activities by scholars and professionals will be followed in time, studied, and published.
The training activities will also include seminars and quick workshops for scholars, staff, and the undergraduate and graduate students from different institutions. The project will foster a pro-innovation, entrepreneurial and open innovation culture within the institutions; it will strengthen the team of scholars with appropriate skills and competences for Engineering Education 2030 and will create opportunities and incentives to encourage practical application of these methodologies and techniques in the education of undergraduate and graduate students. The aspiration is to change the practices of the R&D+i activities creating closer links with industry and the challenges faced by society.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Assess and monitor capabilities for R&D+I
• Develop an annual training program
• Encourage the cultural change
